Horrors

Page history last edited by rentdownstairs 15 years, 1 month ago

R'ishann - this tall reptilian Horror was hidden in the Tardim kaer, fed by Stratham's treachery. We defeated him with Farliss's dagger, called R'ishann's Bane.

Duaga - speaking to the plants, Edgar learned of an 8 foot tall Horror with horse-like hide, clawed arms, and a lower body like a snake. This was near Teldt. More recently, we came upon a second burned-out caravan that the duaga had attacked. It can apparently incinerate targets from the inside out. There are some indications that it prefers cooked meat.

An artist's rendering imagines it something like this

The Shadow-children (Deceivers) - we fought eight of these Horrors in a ruined building in Parlainth. They used illusions to confuse us; we only succeeded because of Leddy's extraordinary mental resilience.

The Wormskull - we fought a Wormskull Horror in a large building in Parlainth. We attacked it while it was already engaged with four Queen's Mercy vampires. The elves had injured it gravely, but it slew all of them before it turned its attention to us.

The Devouring Mist - we destroyed this Horror in the town of Akarem, south of the Blood Wood. It was receiving and devouring slaves. It was also able to raise a fog around the town to keep people from leaving the town, and its power sustained and animated all of the townsfolk long past the natural span of their lives.

The Bloodline - (cf. Queen's Mercy) - This Horror is one of the most powerful. He derives power from the strength of those he has cursed with vampirism. It would be possible to weaken him substantially if we were able to wipe out the Council that serves him. His curse is passed on from person to person within a race. Blood Magic is intrinsically of the Bloodline, and his nature informs it, though it is not inherently evil or of the Horrors as a result. (Nevertheless, I think I'm done contemplating the use of Blood Charms.) His power and nature also directed the creation of the Ritual of Thorns, though that too is not inherently of the Horrors.

The Shadow - Edgar has written a play regarding this horror. The initial play bills look something like this:
